Dear Mrs. Munro.
I enclose card from your son handed me at Boulogne, as it mentions districts it could not pass the censor. I hated to leave the boys at Boulogne but orders came through in the 9th hour that all its officers were conducting officers only and we had to return but I hope to get out there at the end of this week for good. Gordon & Brock are feeling as fit as fiddles and I feel sure will continue that way as they get good grub and lots of it at the front. They also have the short lee-enfield rifle which is 100% better than the ross it can be depended on more. I am writing this on the way back to England on the channel boat and as I have no way such to write you kindly forgive my ?upress. Gordon's commission was confirmed 2 days after he left England which is too bad I did all I could to hurry it up. I told the boys to be sure and write me if they needed anything so you will not know about their needing socksets. I shall send them whatever they ask for if it is at all within power. I shall write again when I hear from them.
with Kindest regards,
I remain
yours truly
