Arthur Melville "Porky" Munro writes to his mother, Jessie Munro. He asks her to send a dollar to try and fix his watch, as well as some pancake mix. He mentions into running into some old friends from school, and how much some people have changed, and others haven't.

May 2nd 1918
Dear Mother,
Since I last wrote home I have had a letter from father (blacked out) from Winnipeg and one from you dated March 28th. I also got a box from Bill. It sure was a fine cake. Brock could not get my watch fixed so I think it would be a good idea for you to put a dollar Ingersoll into my next box. I would also like a package of pancake flour and a little bit of corn syrup. I think a couple of pancakes would go well once in a while. We are not yet into the thick of things and are not having such a bad time. I really think that the war will be over pretty soon.
A few days ago I went out to get a bath and saw quite a few Gladstone fellows. I saw Campbell Broadfoot, Irwin Schooley, Charlie Boyd, Jack McAskill who

is an R. S. M. Bob Watson belongs to the same bunch but he was up the line at the time. It is a long time since we left Gladstone but it doesn't seem so long when you get talking things over. I would hardly have known Campbell, although I knew him when he was pointed out to me, but Irwin Schooley has not changed a bit. None of them knew me until they were told who I was. I have not seen Brock since before I went on leave but some of the 164 fellows a few days ago. I have not seen Art Hillmer nor Gerald yet. I saw Aberdeen Wales a couple of weeks ago.
I will have to close now as there is nothing more to say. Don't forget the pancake flour.
