Seaford Camp
July 18, 1917.
Dear Mother,
Here we are in Seaford Camp. It is right on the Sea Coast, about 9 miles from Brighton, and 6 from Eastbourne. The town itself seems to be a nice place of about 5000 people. There is an Esplanade about a mile long and a nice beach. I'm going in bathing the first chance I get. I'm down here on the advance party and am having an easy time. We have hardly done anything today because its been raining. The mud is pretty bad, but the rest of it seems to be pretty good. The rest of the

Machine Gunners are coming down on Saturday. The 3rd Canadian Command Depot is stationed here, as well as a London Command Depot, so there are quite a few soldiers around. The grub we have here so far has been good and there's lots of it. We have a mess room with plates etc. so we don't have to use mess tins all the time.
I guess that's all I can think of for this time.
