Arthur Melville "Porky" Munro writes to his father, Rev. Dr. James E. Munro. He talks about enjoying a nice dinner given by the officers, and how nice of a treat the food was. He also fills in about the recent mail parcels and letters that he has received.

Dear Father,
I got your letter dated Nov. 16th a couple of days ago. I signed that cheque and am sending it enclosed. I have not received the parcel of sox you mentioned yet but of course they may be along anytime. I get the Oakville papers about once a week and am always very glad to get them. We are still out

on rest but expect to move shortly. We have had a fairly decent time and are ready for the line again. Every week we have had a bath and clean clothes so we have not been doing so badly. The barn we sleep in is pretty cold and sometimes I wonder if I ever will get warm. They won't allow us to have a fire on account of the hay and straw.

Last Thursday night we had a company dinner supplied mostly by the officers. It was good too and it was everything anyone wanted to eat. The chicken was fine and I haven't seen such nice brown gravy since I left home. It was a real treat and I made the most of the opportunity to "fill up". I am sending the designed by one of the

boys in the company. Of course, the "erupting barrage" doesn't interest me in the least.
Just now the mail came in. There was a letter from mother dated Nov. 10th, the Oakville record of Nov.9th and a box from Grace Ryrie, Marg Lind and the rest of that bunch. I have already got the 164th box and the one with the sweater in.
