Dear Pug,
I got a letter from you a couple of days ago and also one from Ed and two from mother. You seem to have had a fairly good time on the Christmas holidays. It must be pretty bad weather that you have been having. Over here it has been nice and warm and we haven't seen snow for a long time. As I said before, I saw Brock and expect to see him again in

a few days.
I was very sorry to hear that Ashton Crawley was missing. One of the boys in our section had a sister that must have been on the same boat. She is a nurse and managed to get ashore allright.
The war doesn't seem to be getting much better but I think it will soon be over. I think I will be going to Paris soon on leave. One of the fellows said that there was a girl there from Oakville in the Y.M.C.A. Do you know who she could

be? The fellow on my left in the photo is named English. Mother thought he had a nice face. He is kind of a nut and his mother went to the convent when it was in Oakville. He lives in Calgary. Mr. Stewart is our officer's name. He is from Halifax and I have an idea that he is a minister's son.
Well I guess that is all I can say so will close.
This is an extra picture I had so I am sending it home.

Love to all,
Melville
